I build systems that stay correct at scale.

Hi, I’m Vishal — a software engineer with 4+ years of building production systems end to end: fault-tolerant backend pipelines, async workflows over rate-limited third-party APIs, and the large React applications on top. I own problems from the design doc to the on-call pager.

01Selected work

Hard problems, solved in production.

Case studies from four years of building a multi-tenant B2B platform — the problem, the constraints, the design and its trade-offs, and what changed. Customer names and internal details are left out.

02Approach

How I work.

The habits behind the work above — each one linked to where it shows.

  1. 01

    Design for failure

Networks drop, APIs throttle and workers die mid-operation. Isolation, backoff, idempotent retries and reconciliation belong in the first design, not the postmortem.

  2. 02

    Own it in production

Shipping is the midpoint. I instrument what I build, carry the pager for it, and turn silent failures into alerts and daily reports.

  3. 03

    Dive deep

When one symptom has three causes, find all three. Reproduce it, read the provider’s actual responses, and prove the fix — don’t pattern-match.

  4. 04

    Work across the stack

The same engineer designs the worker, the API, the data model and the React screen — so nothing falls through a hand-off.

  5. 05

    Spend wisely

Cost is a design input. Data gets a retention policy, and expensive work — like an LLM call — sits at the end of a funnel that most inputs never reach.

  6. 06

    Raise the bar around me

Design docs before code, multi-round reviews, mentoring newer engineers, and taking on the codebase-wide cleanups nobody else wants.

03Experience

Four years, one company, a lot of ground.

I joined Optmyzr as an intern in 2022 and have since worked across nearly every layer of a multi-tenant B2B platform — background workers and queues, service APIs, data stores, and the React applications customers use every day.

    Jun 2023 — Present

I own problem areas end to end across the backend and the frontend — writing the design doc, building the services, workers and UI, shipping, and carrying the pager — on a 20–50 person engineering team.

    • Made a multi-tenant daily processing pipeline resilient at scale: cross-process rate-limit backoff coordinated through Redis, adaptive concurrency, per-unit fault isolation, and alerting that turned silent failures into daily reports.
    • Designed a reconciliation path that recovers state after a worker dies mid-operation across a system boundary — with guards that suppress any ambiguous match rather than guess.
    • Replaced a blocking request path with an async, self-scheduling workflow for multi-minute external media ingestion, plus pre-flight validation and per-source upload deduplication.
    • Led the consolidation of two diverged React codebases (355 files moved, ~580 reconciled) and cleared all 13 launch blockers within a week.
    • Owned the delivery epics for a hierarchical multi-tenant dashboard from POC to GA, serving 5,000+ portfolios across 1,000+ customers.
    • Shipped LLM features in production: versioned tool-calling schemas, platform-aware context routing, multimodal generation, and vector-search-backed global search used 1,000+ times a day.
    • Cut 10.8 TB of cloud storage by redesigning data retention around lifecycle policies without breaking user downloads.
    • Primary on-call rotation and incident ownership; mentored an intern and a junior engineer; regular reviewer on other teams’ designs and code; joined enterprise-customer calls to scope requirements.

    Apr 2022 — Jun 2023

Joined while finishing my degree; converted to full-time on the back of a 0 → 1 product launch.

    • Built a new product 0 → 1 — the React/Redux frontend architecture, ~20 recommendation modules and a C# generation pipeline — and replaced the legacy tool for all users in 7 months. Usage grew 5×.
    • Kept 1,000+-row lists at 60 fps with windowed virtualization, and isolated every module behind its own error boundary so one failure could never take down the page.
    • Wrote a Webpack plugin that renders React components inside server-rendered PHP pages, which let one navigation system replace two diverged ones across every tool.
    • Built the company marketing site’s dynamic templates on Hugo with CRM integration, removing engineering from the content team’s publishing path.

Things I build on my own time.

Mostly apps I wanted to exist — and an excuse to learn a stack properly.

LPU Re-Touched

A faster, friendlier rebuild of my university’s student app.

The official app had no public API, so I proxied its traffic with Fiddler, worked out the private endpoints, and rebuilt the student experience in React Native.

Reached 150+ downloads and a 4★ rating from 24 reviews on the Play Store.

Split anything, settle on UPI, clean slate.

India-first expense splitting that closes the loop other apps leave open: settling the money over UPI inside the flow.

Android-first Flutter app with a Go API. No money touches the server — settlement is a payer-initiated UPI deep link. Phone-number auth via Firebase, copy in English, Hindi and Hinglish.

Dependency-free Node script: Markdown → HTML → headless Chrome PDF. Fails the build if the résumé spills past one page, and keeps native list bullets so ATS parsers read the text layer in order.
